Obituary

Ida Mae "Sally" Tryon, 102, of Marysville, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, March 22, 2011 at Cambridge Place in Marysville.

A funeral service was held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, March 26 at the First Christian Church in Marysville. The Rev. Jerry Zanker officiated.

Burial was in the Marysville City Cemetery.

Sally was born on November 6, 1908 at Marquette, Kansas, the daughter of Stephen D. and Bertha Abba (Tracy) Pitts.

On September 20, 1927 she married Leroy D. Tryon at Marysville. He died on December 19, 1997 at Marysville. That year they celebrated 70 years of marriage. She was a wife and a homemaker. She raised four sons and was devoted and attentive to her family.

Sally was an active member of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Glendale, Arizona. While in Marysville she was a member of the First Christian Church. She also belonged to the Union Pacific Old Timers Ladies Auxilary and Marysville Country Club.

She thoroughly enjoyed her surprise 100th birthday celebration two years ago. The whole family gathered for their 50th wedding anniversary and they also attended many Pitts family reunions and holidays.

Golfing was her passion and she won many awards and championships both here and in Arizona. She and her husband enjoyed camping in Montana after their retirement. Sally loved the sunshine and the outdoors. She raised oranges and grapefruit in her backyard. The warm Arizona climate suited her perfectly.

Survivors include her son, Wayne E. Tryon, Marysville; eleven grandchildren, twenty-seven great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; three sons, Leroy D. Tryon, Jr., Ronald Lee Tryon and Robert Gene Tryon; great-grandson, Kevin L. Byers; three brothers, Elmer L. Pitts, Milford D. Pitts and Harold E. Pitts; and three sisters, Elmora L. Buhl, Alene D. Shipman and Berniece E. Carter.

Memorials will be designated later and can be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary.

Burial was in the Marysville City Cemetery[1]
