Birth

William B. Pitts gave the year and place of his birth as 1785 when he applied for his service bounty land, however, in the 1850 and 1860 Census' he gave his birth year as 1787.

Marriage

The Pitts family history book states he married in Trigg Co., KY to Rhoda Ricks but I later found the marriage record in Christian Co., KY.

Military

William Pitts, Private, Company commanded by Captain Robert Braden, Regiment of Tennesse Militia, War of 1812, enlisted in Fayetteville, TN on or about 1st April 1813 for the term of 6 mos. He was honorably discharged in Robertson Co., TN on 1st oct 1813. He also served as a Private, Company commanded by Capt. Mastin in the ___ Regiment of TN Milita in the War of 1812, enlisting on or about 1st June 1814 at Fayetteville, TN for the term of 6 mos. and was honorably discharged on 1st Nov 1814 in Robinson or Robertson Co., TN; he also served in the Creek war with the Creek Indians.

The first two descendants listed for William B. Pitts (Nancy Pitts DeShazo and Jane Pitts Lawley) are not his daughters. They are the daughters of William Pitts of Shelby Co., Alabama. They are named in his estate papers probated in Shelby Co., Alabama. He died there in 1866 and is not the same person in this profile.
