Thomas Place was born in 1803 in London St Mary le Bow and St Pancras Soper Lane with All Hallows Honey Lane, Middlesex, England, United Kingdom, son of John Place (1756–>1811) and Mary Wheatly (1756– ).

His son was William Henry Place (1831–1897).

Thomas died in 1883 in Union Workhouse Leytonstone, Essex, England, aged 79.
