Biography

Maria was a daughter of Pieter Ploeg and Aaltjen Peeling, baptized in the Reformed Dutch Church of Kingston, New York, on 7 September 1718. Witnesses were Kryn Oosterhout and Marytjen Ploeg.^[1]

Gideon van Aaken, j.m., was married to Maria Ploeg, j.d., on 13 December 1740. Their marriage was recorded in the Reformed Dutch Church of Kingston, New York. Both Gideon and Maria were "born and resid. under the jurisdiction of Kinstown." Domine Vas, who married them, had registered their banns on 23 November 1740.^[2]
