Biography
Alice Larson, age 94 of Waupun, died on Saturday, September 24, 2011 at Waupun Memorial Hospital.
Alicewas born on May 5, 1917 in Waupun, a daughter of Arthur and Maggie (Vande Kamp) Pluim. As a young woman she was employed at the shoe factory; and it was there she met her husband of 74 years. On October 2, 1936, Alice married Burton Larson at the First Reformed Church of Waupun. Alice enjoyed caring for her family and home. She was an excellent cook and also loved working in the yard. In later years, Alice worked at the Christian Home in various departments for thirteen years. She enjoyed spending lots of time with her grandchildren. Alice leaves a legacy of Christian faith to her family.
Alice is survived by her son Larry (Joann) Larson, Berlin, her daughter Jill (Randy) Guenther, Waupun, four grandchildren; Jodi (Bob) Tank, Brandon, Jack (Wanda) Larson, Waupun, Alison (Mark) Thompson, Oshkosh, and Brad (Emily) Guenther, Madison; her grandson-in-law, Dave Wuebben, Hortonville; eight great-grandchildren; Nathan, Matthew, and Nicholas Tank, Tim Wuebben, Bailey and Shelby Larson, Andy and Brent Thompson; two sisters-in-law, Florence and Edith Pluim, both of Waupun, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in August of 2010, a granddaughter, Lauri Wuebben; two sisters, and three brothers.
A Celebration service of Alice’s life will be held at 11:30 a.m.on Wednesday, September 28, 2011at Kohls Community Funeral Home, 405 West Main Street, Waupun, with Rev. Bob James officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Mound Cemetery.
Alice’ family will receive relatives and friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 9:30 until the time of service.
Memorials may be directed in Alice’s name to World Vision, and Samaritan’s Purse.
Kohls Community Funeral Home is serving the family.
