Very little factual detail is available for "Mary Elizabeth" Poage. Neither her tombstone nor the Gose book (cited below) reference the name "Mary". There were several adult male Poage family members in or around Orange and Augusta Co. but Elizabeth's parents remain unknown.
No other known records mention her, by name. She is assumed to be the female >45 in the 1810 and 1820 Census for Wythe Co.
She died just a few months prior to her husband's death so she was not mentioned in his will. She was buried in Sharon Cemetery in Ceres, VA (today's Bland Co.).
