The 1850 Census says John Poff age 33; Martha 32 both born Ohio; Charles 11, Mary 9, Silas 5, Martha 3, Henderson 0 all born Indiana. Melvina 1854 and Mabel P 1860. Martha Pool was living with her son-in-law Walter Troxel and daughter Eve Pool of Garden Valley, Jackson County, Wisconsin. Martha died 1913 and was buried with her husband.

for Martha J. (Poff) Pool who died Dec. 6, 1913 at the home of H. H. Hunter in the town of Washburn after an illness of but a few days resulting from a stroke of apoplexy. She was born Martha J. Poff on Jan. 14, 1848 and was united in marriage to Thomas Pool on Jan. 4, 1869, the union produced seven children , five of whom survive their parents, they include Mrs. H. Hunter, Mrs Walter Troxel and William Poole of Alma Center Jackson Co., Wisconsin; Charles and Ernest Poole of Neillsville, Clark Co. WI. Three sisters and two brothers , Mabel Hughes of Fairbury, Neb.; Eva Kurts of Long Beach CA; Mellie Lowe of Lometta, Texas and two brothers Silas & Henderson Poff of Lomar, Missouri. She was a devout member of the Christian Church, possessed of a kindly and charitable nature and lived a life of pleasure to serve others. Rev Mallory of Cannonville church conducted services. Martha Jane Poff was the daughter of John & Elizabeth (Miller) Poff both born Ohio & married about 1845 most likely Ohio or Howard Co. Indiana. Elder John & wife died in Crawford Co. WI 1875 his sons moved to Missouri; her grandparents Samuel Poff born TN & Francis Frankey Jones born VA and both died and buried Poff Cemetery, Howard Co. Indiana; Samuel was the son of George and Catharina Poff both born York Co. PA and died Ashland Co. Ohio.
