Biography

Daniel Streator Pond wrote in 1875 in the Pond Genealogy: "SILAS POND, 6th son of the Patriarch Dan Pond, born 1759; married Lucinda Lee, born June 27th, 1764. Silas Pond died Nov. 20th, 1827, at Panton, Vt. He was a Revolutionary Soldier. Lucinda Pond died Nov. 13th, 1814. It appears from the record of Silas Pond that he lost four children and his wife, within the space of six weeks and three days, but there is nothing therein to tell with what disease they died. How terribly lonesome it must have been in that House! Within less than 7 weeks, a family of eight persons, to be reduced to three. But he had a glorious Christian's hope to sustain him in his trial!"
