Apparently he thought well enough of his commander (who may have been a long time family friend) to name a child for him John Pool Rev War and other records-- from Ancestry.com According to veteran's statement when he applied for pension in 1832, he served with SC Troops as follows; From the fall of 1777, 3 months in Captain ?Isaac Mitchell's company, There are many examples of "Mitchell" being used as a given name in the Pool line. It is possible that this comes from close relationship, including several marriages between Pool and Mitchell people. Poole-2756 and Pool-1723 appear to represent the same person because: Same date and place of birth, same husbands, same sons. Both spellings Pool and Poole are used in different branches of the family but Pool without the final e is more common. My gg-grandfather James Pool Bozeman left off the e in his middle name.
