Note: William, the youngest son, married a relative of Stephen Austin, and lived in western Alexander County. The reared a family of six sons and five daughters. His two eldest daughters died in childhood. He married a second time after his first wife's death. William and four of his sons were Baptist ministers as appears in the Anticoch Baptish Church records in the Ellendale community. He was involved in the organization of Alexander County in 1867-47 and in the establishment of the United Baptist Institute in Taylorsville in 1856,
