Note: Do not confuse this John Pope with John B Pope of Lenoir, NC.

This John, his death certificate has a DOB of 1894 but all military records have a DOB of 1895 and census show 1896.

Biography

John was born in 1894. He was the son of John Pope and Nancy Barlow. On 21 Feb 1932 he married Claudia Pender. She passed away in 1939 from accidently gas inhalation at the age of 25. They had no children. He passed away in 1956 from a car accident in Price George, Virginia. He was taken back to North Carolina and believed may be buried at the Hollow Springs Church Cemetery. Further research is needed to confirm.

John served in the military during WWI as a Private in Company A of the 30th Division Infantry Unit out of North Carolina. He enlisted on 18 Sep 1917 at Camp Jackson.
