James was born in 1941. He was the son of Chester Poppenhouse. He passed away in 2005.

HILLSBORO - James C. Poppenhouse, 63, of Hillsboro died Wednesday, May 11, 2005, at Memorial Medical Center.
He was born Sept. 9, 1941, in Montgomery County, the son of Chester and Minnie Hester Poppenhouse. He married Alice Peden in 1963 in Louisiana.
Mr. Poppenhouse was a police officer in Texas and an industrial electrician for Dana Corp. in Litchfield for approximately 20 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving from 1957-62. He was a member of American Legion in Breckenridge, Texas, Hillsboro Moose Lodge and the National Rifle Association.
Survivors: wife, Alice; three sons, James (wife, Leslie) Poppenhouse of Springfield, Jimmy (wife, Andrea) Poppenhouse of Oldsmar, Fla., and Bobby (wife, Robin) Poppenhouse of Pascagoula, Miss.; two daughters, Teresa Noggle of Carlinville and Chrissie (husband, John) Lentz of Hillsboro; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and two brothers, David (wife, Paula) Poppenhouse of Springfield and Carl (wife, Pat) Poppenhouse of Astoria, Ore.
Services: 3 p.m. Sunday, Bass, Patton, Dean Funeral Home, Hillsboro, the Rev. Brian Atkins officiating. Burial: Elm Lawn Cemetery, Litchfield.
