Biography

When Lillian M Porter was born on April of 1865 ^[1], in Camden, New York, her father, Clark, was 52, and her mother, Elizabeth, was 29. She married Frederick G. West in 1897 in Oneida, New York. They had five children during their marriage. She died on February 18, 1908, in her hometown at the age of 42, and was buried there.

2. ↑ Her name was spelled Lileon on the 1880 Federal census. The 1875 NY State Census and subsequent federal censuses report her name as Lillian as in the1890 federal census, for example.
3. ↑ April 18 1865 is the birthdate associated with her profile on Ancestry.com. However, I was not able to find documentation of the day she was born. In conflict with other records, the 1900 federal census reports the birth year of 1868. The 1865 NY State Census ^[1] records Lillian Porter's age as 1/12 (1 month old?) The Census link in her profile is for her father Clark Porter. 1875 NY State census records her birth date "about 1865"and records her age as "10." ^[3] 1880 Federal census reports birth date "about 1865" and records her age as "15." ^[4] 1900 United States Federal Census reports just the birth month of April and the birth year of 1868 and records her age as "32." ^[2] 1908 New York, Death Index, 1852-1956 for Lillian P West recorded her death on Feb 18 and her living in Camden on page 952 The certificate number 8451 in a column on the right "Camden." However, there was no record of her birth date. ^[5] U.S., Find A Grave Index, 1600s-Current records her death date Feb 18 1908. However, there is no indication of birth date. Nor does the image of the grave marker only indicates her birth year.^[6]
