Marie Rose Pothier was the daughter of Nicolas Cesaire Pothier and Marie Deveau.^[1]
She was also the twin sister of Marie Madeleine Pothier.^[1]
She was born October 6, 1879^[1], and was baptised October 7, 1879 at St. Michael's^[1] in Tusket Wedge, Nova Scotia.^[2]

In 1908 residents petitioned the Provincial Government for town incorporation and on 16 May 1910, the Town of Wedgeport was officially incorporated. The communities currently known as Upper Wedgeport, Wedgeport, and Lower Wedgeport, became a single town, separate from the Municipality of Argyle.
