Biography

Celia was born in in 1835, or maybe about Dec 1836. Celia E. Potts "Dicy" was married to William B. (Bill) McAllister from Mississippi and they had a few children. After he died of disease at Camp Hope, in Arkansas, she remained on the farm trying to cope with the Civil War & post-war hardships of food shortages, deserters and raiders coming through the country stripping it of any thing they could use. In 1868 she married John Manuel from TN, who had a farm in Independence Co., AR. They were married in Clinton, AR. Celia and her McAlister children returned with John Manuel to his farm in Independence Co., AR). She passed away in 1946.
