Marie Exilda Poulin was born April 30, 1855 at St-Hyacinthe and she was baptized there the same day. [1] She was the daughter of Louis Poulin and Emilienne Cloutier, originally of St-Hyacinthe, Bas-Canada.
Exilda Poulin married Alexis LaBossiere on Jan. 27, 1870 at Manchaug, Massachusetts. He was the son of Alexis Labossiere and Sophie Arsenault of St-Ours, Bas-Canada. Their marriage record has not been found, but it is documented in the Labossiere genealogy of 2009. Alexis and Exilda must have moved back to Bas-Canada as they had their first six children there, first at Wickham, then one at Saint-Ours. They made a huge move in 1882 when they moved their family to Saint-Leon, Manitoba and established themselves on the southwest of 4-5-9. This family was the last of the four original Labossiere pioneer families to come out to homestead in the Saint-Leon area between 1878 and 1882. Alexis was 32 years old when he settled in Manitoba. They had another 11 children at Saint-Leon. Overall, seven of the children died as infants.

Alexis Labossiere passed away Dec. 11, 1932, at Saint-Leon. He was aged 82 years. They are both buried in the Saint-Leon Cemetery.
[Research Notes: The marriage date of Jan 1870 has to be questioned as Alexis Labossiere is found with his parents in the 1871 Canada Census, listed as single. The first child was not born until Oct. 3, 1873, thus it is much more likely that the marriage was actually in Jan. 1872. Note 2: The death of Alexis' wife, Exilda Poulin in 1903 is now also in question as she certainly appears to be with him in the 1906 Canadian Prairies Census. It is definitely the correct family as the names and ages match and even the land section is correct.]
