William Poulton was born in 1850. He was the son of Thomas Poulton and Ann Price. Christening 16 June 1850 North Nibley, Gloucestershire, England.
He married Sarah Louisa Custance, on 22 April 1869, in Adelaide, South Australia and they had eight children
