Stephen Gard Pound was born in Sullivan County, Indiana, in 1856. His parents were James Pound and Sarah Mattix. He passed away in Stafford County, Kansas, in 1937 and is buried at the Stafford Cemetery in Stafford, Stafford County, Kansas. [1]
By 1860 the family had moved west to Illinois. [2][3]
Perhaps the whole family moved together to Kansas in 1874 or 1875 as did his sister and brother-in-law. [4][5]In 1877 Stephen married Emily Brown in Kansas. [6]
Over the next two-plus decades Stephen and Emily added nine children to the family. [7][8][9][10]
After Emily's death in 1915 [11], Stephen married Martha Tyler Thomas. [12]
Named as father in the death of Roy Ora Pound in Wenatchee, Chelan, Washington, in 1948. [13]
Named as father in the death of Lewis W. Pound, in Modesto, Stanislaus, California, in 1957. [14]
