Oliver Pressley was born in Herne, Kent, England.

Oliver Pressley was born on 10 Mar 1812 in Herne Bay, Kent, England. He was the son of William Pressley and Elisabeth Wanstall.

He married Eliza Russell on 20 Dec 1835 in St Peter and St Paul, Milton by Gravesend, Kent, England.

Children: Eliza Ann, Mary Russell, Elizabeth, Oliver, Harriet, Emily Jane, Edmund, James Edward,^[1] Alice.^[2]

He died on 11 Apr 1898 in Gravesend, Kent, England. He is buried with his daughter Harriet, son James Edward, his wife Eliza, and the wife of his son James, Catherine Jane.

The photograph of the grave marker attached to his son, James Edward Pressley, has the following inscription: Harriet, Daughter of, Oliver & Eliza Pressley, Who died February 28th 1863, Aged 13 years. The Lord gave and the Lord hath taken away. Also the above , Eliza, the beloved wife of Oliver Pressley, Who died April 21st 1890, Aged 79 years. Be ye also ready. Also the above Oliver Pressley, Who died April 11th, 1898, Aged 86 years. He gently fell asleep. Also Catherine Jane, The dearly loved wife of James E. Pressley, Who entered into rest April 11th, 1922, Aged 68 years. “Till we meet.” Also the above James Edward Pressley ^[3][4]

In 1861 Oliver was a fisherman.^[5]

Oliver was a ship watchman in 1891.^[6]
