Biography

Thomas was born in 1929 in Tifton, Georgia. He was the son of Ralph Puckett and Clara Stedman.

The 1930 US Federal Census on 8 April finds the family in Tift, George, USA. Mother Clara was the head of the house owning the estate worth $8,000. They even had a radio, unlike many neighbors. Clara 34, Ralph 33, little Clara 11, Ralph, Jr. 3, Thomas newborn were in the household along with Susie Holt 31, their negro servant. Susie was a widow. Little Clara was attending school. The parents, little Clara, and Susie could read and write English. All household members were Georgians. Clara's father was a North Carolinian. Ralph, the elder, earned a living as an insurance agent in his own agency. He was not a veteran. Susie was employed by the Puckett's as their private servant.^[1]

Family Life

He married Billie Joyce Nelson in 1949 in Tifton. They had two children together, one son, and one daughter.

He passed away in 1977 in Tifton and was buried in Oak Ridge Cemetery.
