William was born in 1889, in Thingoe, Suffolk, England, United Kingdom.[1][2] He was the 7th of 11 children born to Lewis Quantrill, an Agricultural Labourer, and Elizabeth Ann (Boreham) Quantrill.
William married Ruby Beatrice (Place) Quantrill in 1920 in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, England, United Kingdom.[3] They had 2 children: Robert Arthur Quantrill and Walter William Quantrill.
William's granddaughter (my mother), Susan (Quantrill) Holmes, spent many school holidays at Great Saxham Hall where William worked as Christopher Boyd William Magnay and Winnifred (Jeffreys) Magnay's chauffer. Ruby Beatrice (Place) Quantrill was Sir and Lady Magnay's housekeeper. The jobs included accommodation for the family. As Robert Arthur Quantrill and Walter William Quantrill grew up they became a gamekeeper and agricultural engineer at Great Saxham Hall respectively.[4]
William died at the age of 75 in 1965 in Great Saxham, Suffolk, England, United Kingdom.[5]
