Biography

David (age 22), son of Chas. H. Rakes & Julia Ann Rakes, married Martha E. Janney on 31 May 1884 in Franklin, Virginia.[1]

My grandmother told me that her father as above was killed in a mining accident while a car broke loose, trying to kick other miners out of harm's way. Family appears in Ft. Chiswell, VA US census of 1900
