Samuel Randolph was born in Appalachia, in Tennessee.
Samuel Peyton Randolph was born on December 27, 1867 in Putnam, Tennessee, United States, son of Jesse Vanvere Randolph (1839–1916) and Julie Ann Randolph (1841–1899).
Samuel (18) married Mahala Elizabeth Hailie Clouse (15) (born on November 30, 1870 in Sparta, White, Tennessee; daughter of Elijah Crockett Clouse and Delina Jane (Bumbalough) Clouse) on March 27, 1886 in White. [1]
In the 1870 census Samuel (age 3) was in Putnam, Tennessee, United States.[2] Jesse Randolph 30, Julia Ann Randolph 28, John Randolph 10, Thomas Randolph 8, William Randolph 5, Samuel Randolph 3, Preston Randolph 0.
In the 1880 census Samuel (age 12), Laborer, was the son of J.v. Randolph in District 4, Grainger, Tennessee, United States.[3] J.v. Randolph 39, wife July Randolph 39, son Thomas Randolph 18, son William Randolph 15, son Samuel Randolph 12, son Preston Randolph 10, son Joseph Randolph 7, daughter A.j. Randolph 5, son Dock Randolph 1.
In the 1900 census Samuel (age 33) was the married head of household in Civil District 1, Putnam, Tennessee, United States.[4] Samuel Randolph 33, daughter Jane Randolph 4, wife Haile Randolph 28, daughter Zora Randolph 12, daughter Nevada Randolph 9, daughter Lillie A Randolph 5, son Luther Randolph 4, daughter Samantha Randolph 1.
In the 1910 census Samuel (age 43) was the married head of household in Civil District 4, Putnam, Tennessee, United States.[5] Samuel P Randolph 43, wife Haley Randolph 30, son Luther Randolph 14, daughter Lisie Randolph 14.
In the 1920 census Sam (age 55) was the married head of household in Civil District 16, Putnam, Tennessee, United States.[6] Sam Randolph 55 years, wife Haley Randolph 50 years, daughter Edna Randolph 14 years, son Jesse Randolph 11 years, daughter Zona Randolph 8 years.
In the 1930 census Sam (age 63) was the married father of Jessie Randolph in District 16, Putnam, Tennessee, United States.[7] Jessie Randolph 22, wife Hazel Randolph 19, son J D Randolph 2, father Sam Randolph 63, mother Halie Randolph 60, sister Edna Randolph 24.
In the 1940 census Sam (age 73) was the widowed father of Jesse Randolph in Civil District 8, Putnam, Tennessee, United States.[8] Jesse Randolph 37, wife Hazel Randolph 29, son J D Randolph 12, daughter Fay Randolph 7, father Sam P Randolph 73, sister Edna Randolph 34.
Samuel died on December 3, 1949 in Putnam, aged 81. He was buried in Judd Cemetery, Baxter, Tennessee.[9][10]
