Marie-Madeleine Raté was born on March 26, 1737 in Saint-Augustin-de-Desmaures, Canada, New France. Her parents were Mathieu Raté and Marie Anne Martel. She married Jean-Baptiste Petitclerc on November 24, 1766 Together they had at least 2 children:
