Biography

John was born about 1816 in Flempton, Suffolk.^[1] There is a baptism record for a John Ranner in 1815 in Flempton, on the 29th of May 1815 to parents John and Ann.^[2] John senior was a shepherd.

John married Rachael Stone in Q4 1837, in Flempton Cum Hengrave, Thingoe district, Suffolk^[3]

In 1841^[4] John and Rachel lived in Bath House Cottage, Hengrave, with daughters Harriet (1) and unnamed/illegible (1 month). John was an agricultural labourer, and all were born in Suffolk.

In 1851^[5] the family lived in Hengrave, with children Harriot (11), David (9), Charles (7), Henry (5), John (3), Rachel (1). John and David were agricultural labourers. John was listed as born in Flempton, and all the others as Hengrave

John and Rachael had a daughter Emma, born 17 February 1854, private baptism 28th of February, buried 18th of June.^[6] Another daughter, also Emma, was born on the 30th of May and baptised on the 7th of October 1856 at St Catherine's, Flempton, in the parish of Hengrave, Suffolk. ^[7]

In 1861^[8] John and Rachael Rayner lived in 'High Road', Flempton, along with children David, Charles, Henry, John, Rachael, Sarah, James, Emma, and William. John and the older boys were agricultural labourers. Rachael was born in Hengrave, and all the others in Flempton.

In 1871^[9] John and Rachel lived in Hengrave, with children John, James, Sarah and William.

John died in1879, and was buried on the 14th of September at St Catherine's Flempton.^[10]
