Edward was born in 1929. He was the son of George Rechenberg and Helen Johnson. He grew up in the city of Clinton, Iowa, worked for the Chicago and North Western Railroad Company and served in the US Army in Korea. He married Mary Schneider and they had seven children, all mentioned in Edward's April 2000 Obituary.
