Biography

Born Ann was born in 1811 in Blackwell Derbyshire ^[1] and baptised on 2 November 1811 in Blackwell Derbyshire ^{[2] [3]}. Her parents were named William Radford and his wife Elizabeth.

Marriage Ann married Joseph Swain on 26 November 1838 in North Wingfield ^{[4] [5]}.
Joseph and Ann had six children:

In 1841 ^[6] Ann (25) and Joseph (25) "Ag. Lab." were living in Pilsley, North Wingfield, Derbyshire next door to Joseph's widowed mother Ann and siblings Jonathan (9) and Hannah (7).
In 1851 ^[7] Ann (39) and Joseph (36) "Agr. Lab." were living in Pilsley with their children William (9), Elizabeth (8), John (6), Martha (4) and Jane (3).
In 1861 ^[8] Ann (49) and Joseph (46) "Ag. Lab." were still living in Pilsley together with their children William (19) "Agr Lab. ", John (16) "Coal Lab. ", Jane (13) and Ann (8) "scholar".
In 1871 ^[9] Ann (59) and Joseph (57) "Ag. Lab." were living in Pilsley with a grandson James Swain (8). In 1881 ^[10] Ann (69) and Joseph (67) "Gen. Lab.) were living alone in Pilsley Lane Pilsley. Joseph died in Pilsley age 68 in 1883 ^[11].
In 1891 ^[12] Ann (79) widow was living with her married daughter Martha (Swain) Bloor and husband William Bloor (41) "Coal miner" at 23 Hepthorne Lane North Wingfield.

Died Ann died age 86 in 1898 ^[13] and was buried on18 April 1898 at the Wesleyan Chapel Pilsley ^[14].

Research Notes

Ann's brother Joseph was married to her husband's sister Elizabeth Swain.
The Radford family has not yet been researched. There is, however, a tree of the Radford family on FamilySearch [1] although some details do not match and sourcing is incomplete.
