Edith Mary (Reeves) House was born about 1894 in Gosport, Hampshire, England, daughter of John Reeves (~1851 - 1917) and Jane Alexander (Phillips) Reeves (~1859 - ).^[1]

In 1901, Edith, aged 7, was residing with her parents and five siblings at 5 Eliza Place, Forton, Gosport, Hampshire, England. ^[2]

In 1911, Edith, aged 17, is still residing with her parents but they have moved to 18 Victoria St, Forton, Gosport, Hampshire, England, she is working as a domestic. By this time she has a new sister, Ellen, born in about 1902. Her niece Nurin Metcalf, daughter of her sister Alice is also residing with the family.^[3]

Edith married James R House (~1885 - ) in 1916 in Alverstoke, Hampshire.^[4]

The couple seem to have had only one son, Arthur, born in 1917.^[5]

By 1939, the family are living together at Gosport.^[6]. Arthur has married by this time and his wife Beulah (nee Pink) is also residing with the family.^[7]

Edith died before March 1956, her death registered in the March quarter at Gosport, Hampshire, England.^[8][9]

Research Notes

There are two other possible children, Reginald and John HOUSE both births registered in Isle of Wight in 1929, mothers maiden name Reeves. It is unclear if these are the same family as Reginald and John are not listed in the 1939 census (when they would have been aged 10) and there do not appear to be any death registrations for either of them.
