Christian was born on the 19th December 1872. He was the son of Thomas Reid and Ida Selby.

Christian married Leonora Sandeman on the 19th September 1903 at 50 Inverleith Place, Edinburgh, Scotland. She was the daughter of Albert Fitzroy Sandeman a wine merchant, and Margaret Elizabeth Gordon (Smith) Sandeman.[5]
In the 1911 census Christian (age 38), Jeweller shopkeeper, was the married head of household at 26 Highbury West Jesmond Newcastle-On-Tyne, Jesmond, Northumberland, England.[6]

Christian died on 10 May 1935 and his estate passed probate on 17 March 1936 in Northumberland, England to his widow Leonora Reid, and to William Boswell Sandeman a wine and spirit mercant, and to George Edward Wilkinson a solicitor.[7]
Christian's death (age 62) was registered in the Apr-May-Jun quarter of 1935 in the Castle Ward district.[8]

Also shown, in different handwriting, is one of his children Katherine Barnard (1844-1912) https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Barnard-4055 living at 12 Highbury Terrace, Islington, Middlesex from before 1911 until her death, and one of his grandchildren Kate Barnard Blaikley (1879-1969) https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Blaikley-22 living at 5 Canfield Gardens, Hampstead, Middlesex from before 1939 until before her death. These hand-written notes record the Barnard family, and others, commencing with William Barnard (1605-1682) through to a John Barnard, a farmer in 1898, living at Haslingfield, 1¼ miles from Barrington, Cambridgeshire, where Barnard ancestors had lived since 1605. A copy of these notes is in the possession of Trevor Pickup (Pickup-177) and Michael Pickup (Pickup-178).
