Joseph went deaf at 15 months due to brain fever. At age 12 (1858) he started attending a school for the deaf in Ohio, which he did for 7 years. His occupation was a painter in adulthood.
His first spouse, Mary Jane, was deaf from birth. She was admitted to the school in Ohio at age 7 (1879) and attended for 10 years.[1]
They were married 10 May 1893 and had one daughter, Edna Pearl, who was not deaf.
1860 - Joseph Reiniger, age 14, at Ohio Deaf & Dumb Asylum in Columbus Ohio[2]
Marriage & Children
Joseph H. Reiniger and Jennie Nunley, both of legal age, married 10 May 1893 in Scioto County, Ohio; John B Tracy, minister; George M. Osborn, Probate Judge[3]
Military Service - questionable source. Joseph was deaf, so he probably would not be in military service.
