Biography
John was born 28 February 1826[1]. He is the son of John Renton and Janet McKinlay.
John married Barbara Adam on or after 29 December 1846 in St Cuthbert's, Edinburghshire, Scotland.[2]
In the 1871 census John (age 45), Blacksmith, was the son of John Renton in Inveresk (Landward), Midlothian, Scotland.[3]

John was a master blacksmith and in the 1881 census he was living aged 55 at Crossgatehill, Inveresk, Musselburgh. Also resident there were Violet Archibald (wife) aged 45, John Renton (son) 19 blacksmith, James Bertram stepson 21 grocer, Annie Renton Daur 14 and Archibald Renton 2 (son).
John's death (age 74) was registered in 1900 in the Inveresk and Musselburgh district.[5]
