Biography

John was the son of John Rescorl and Susan Jane (George) Rescorl. [1] [2]

John emigrated with his family on the ship "Harbinger" to Melbourne, Australia, arriving on 2nd October 1884. [3]

in 1913, John married Lucy E Jeston in Newcastle, New South Wales. [4]

In The Newcastle Sun (NSW:1918-1954) of 30th September 1950, John can be found aged 75 at the "69th Birthday Party At Merewether" of Mr Charles Feighan with whom he was friends. [5] (This puts John's year of birth as 1870). (see research notes)

John Alfred Rescorl passed away in the district of Hamilton, in New South Wales in 1951 [6]

John's mention in the newspaper article The Newcastle Sun (NSW:1918-1954) of 30th September 1950 (see bio above) where he is quoted as being age 75, puts John's year of birth as 1870. This was before his parents emigrated from Fowey, Cornwall to New South Wales.
