Biography

Alexander was born at 70 High Street in New Pitsligo, Aberdeenshire, Scotland on 21 Feb 1856.[1]

He is the first son of William Rettie and Mary Crichton. Mary Rettie is his twin sister and William Rettie his younger brother. Alexander was born at 2:35 p.m. and Mary was born 10 minutes later.

In 1861, he lived in his Grandfather James' house at High Street, New Pitsligo in the parish of Tyrie, Aberdeenshire, Scotland with his parents and brother and twin sister.[2]

When Alexander RETTIE was 7 years old, his father William RETTIE died on 27 Jul 1863.

On 30 Oct 1880, he married Elizabeth GRAY (Abt 1862) in New Pitsligo, Aberdeenshire, Scotland.[3] He was 24 years old and working as a Slater (Journeyman) when he married Elizabeth GRAY, who was 18 years old at that time.

In Jan 1881, at Aberdeen Sheriff Court, Alexander was found guilty of poaching and fined £2.[4]

In 1881 Alexander and Elizabeth, together with their infant son William, lived at 29 High Street, New Pitsligo, Aberdeenshire, Scotland.[5]

In 1891 Alexander and Elizabeth, together with sons John (6) and Alexander (3) and daughter Jeannie (0), lived at School Lane, Old Machar, Woodside, Aberdeenshire, Scotland[6]

In 1925, Alexander was the owner of HOUSE AND YARD 12 LOW STREET NEW PITSLIGO in the parish of Tyrie, Aberdeenshire, Scotland.[7] He was also the owner occupier of HOUSE SHED AND GARDEN 12 LOW STREET NEW PITSLIGO LIGHTING DISTRICT WITHIN QUOAD.[7]

On 28 Feb 1928, Alexander died of Carcinoma of prostate gland at 12 Low Street in New Pitsligo, Aberdeenshire, Scotland when he was 72 years old.[8]
