In 1930, nine year old James (shown as Billey) lived on Dalwill Road in Enterprise, Coffee, Alabama, United States with her father Fred (shown as F Henry, age 36), mother Cora (age 34), and siblings Iva (age 11), and Ima Dell (age 1). His father was a farmer and Iva and James were farm hands.[1]
In 1940, nineteen year old James (shown as Billy) livedin Enterprise, Coffee, Alabama, United States with his father Fred (age 47), mother Cora (age 44), and siblings Ima Dell (shown as Imadell, age 11), and Fred (age 5). A lodger Lester Griggs (age 16) lived with the family. His father was a farmer and James and Lester were farm laborers.[2]
James was self employed and living in Enterprise, Coffee, Alabama, United States when he registered for the World War II draft February 14, 1942. He was 6' 1" tall, weighed 140 lbs., had red hair and brown eyes, and his nearest relative was FH Reynolds (his father).[3]
James married Bertha Hanusch April 13, 1944, possibly in Alabama City, Etowah, Alabama, United States, but more likely in Coffee County, Alabama, United States.[4] They had at least one child (see Notes).
James died December 22, 1983 in Marion County, Florida, United States[5]
and was buried in the Good Shepherd Memorial Gardens in Ocala, Marion, Florida, United States. [6]Note: James' death certificate shows his birth date as August 21, 1920 and his gravestone shows his birth year as 1920. The correct year is believed more likely to be 1921, as shown in James' World War II draft record.
