When Susan Milzuria Rhodes was born on August 19, 1857, in Hot Spring, Arkansas, her father, John, was 24, and her mother, Cynthia, was 19. In the 1860 census Susan was in Clear Creek, Hot Spring, Arkansas.^[1] She married John Calvin Johnson in 1873 in Arkansas.^[2] They had eleven children in 19 years:
