Biography

Peder was the son of the district judge Knut Pedersson Ribbing (junior) and his wife Kerstin Gustafsdotter.

Peder and his brother Lindorm started an uprising in Småland against king Christian II.[1] The uprising was a part of the Swedish War of Liberation that took place 1521-1523. The brothers were captured and executed by decapitation January 23, 1520, in Jönköping, on the orders of the above-mentioned king.

A Folktale

There is a story that says that two sons, eight and five or six years old, of Lindorm who also were executed with their father.[2] It says that when the five-year-old saw his brother's bloody clothes he told the executioner "Dear man, do not bloody my shirt like my brother's because then my mother will give me a taste of the rod." The headsman then through his sword down and yelled "No, I rather bloody my own shirt, than I would yours". The evil king immediately ordered a new soldier forward and he took first the head of the boy and then the one of the first executioner. This is, however, a common story that has but people to tears since Roman times. There is also no proof that neither Peder or Lindorm had any children. They were both very young, in their twenties.[1]
