Biography
Robert Rich is a part of US Black heritage.
Robert was born about 1828 in Virginia. He married Martha [LNU] around 1847, based on age of their oldest child. In 1850 he was listed as a farmer, and was likely a free person of color as otherwise he would not have appeared in the census. He was widowed around 1865; in 1870 he is listed as a blacksmith with 6 children. He married again in 1878 to Henrietta Roane, a young woman half his age. He had a couple of children with her before he died prior to 1894 when she remarried.
