Biography

Samuel L. Richardson was born on 20 June 1824,^{[citation needed]} probably in St. Helena Parish, Louisiana, United States.^[1] He may have been the son of Samuel Richardson and Rachel Hamilton.^[2]

He married Bridget Murray, daughter of Michael Murray and Alice Sharkey, about 1848.^[3][4]

Samuel and Bridget were enumerated on the 1850 census in Livingston Parish. Samuel gave his occupation as a Mariner, with real estate valued at $500. Bridget's brother, Patrick Murray was living close by.^[6]

During the 1860 census, the family was living in Greensburg, St. Helena Parish. Bridget's mother lived next door.^[1]

Samuel died on 1 Nov 1869 in Springfield, Livingston Parish.^{[citation needed]} His widow and children were living on a farm in Amite City, Tangipahoa Parish during the 1870 census.^[7]
