Rebecca Rickard was born on 16 April 1855 in Tregrehan Mills, St Austell, Cornwall, England to Joseph Rickard and Ann (Bond) Richard.
She married William George Blight in 1875 in Cornwall, England. [1] In Cornwall, they became the parents of William Joseph Blight and Florence Annie (Blight) Cavaney,
Between 1878 and 1879, William and Rebecca took their little family and immigrated to New Zealand. There they became the parents of Frederick Thomas Blight, Lily Blight, Herbert Noah Blight, Lewis Albert Blight, Ives Nathaniel Blight, Alick George "Alexander" Blight, and Alice Selina Rebecca (Blight) Michel Perkins.
Rebecca died on 29 April 1894 in Taranaki, New Zealand and was buried at Tarata Cemetery in Tarata, New Plymouth District, Taranaki, New Zealand.
