Biography

James was born on November 2, 1866. He is the son of William Ricord and Sarah Stevens. Both parents were born in Indiana. James had two sisters listed in 1880 census. Their names were Luella, his older sister by one year, and Georgiana, who was 5 at the time.

In 1885, James was still with his family in Colorado, at 18 years of age, and he had a new baby nephew named Edward C. Wright living with them. james' sister, Luella, had married a young man with the last name of Wright and had a baby, and was living back with the family at the age of only 19.

James' sister, Luella, sometimes called 'Lew', was my grandfather Orie Lee's mother. The family photo that I have posted on Orie's profile page show's Luella's first son by her first marriage standing in the back row, second from the left, next my great grandfather, Joseph Lee. The rest of the boys in the photo were my grandfather and his five brothers.

In the 1870 census, there was a Jeremiah Gilmore, age 74, living with the family. I have no idea who this could be.

James wife was Ada Clifton or Ada Karbinsky. James and Ada were living in Pine Bluff, Jefferson, Arkansa when the 1920 census was taken. James is listed as a 'Stock Dealer'. They were living in Springfield, Missouri, in 1929.

James A. Ricord was laid to rest on January 29, 1928, at the Greenlawn Memorial Gardens in Springfield, Greene County, Missouri.
