Eli was born on 29 Oct 1846 to Andrew Ridgley and Rebecca Heaton. He passed away on 18 May 1936 and was buried in Pleasant View Cemetery, Pickrell, Gage County, Nebraska.[1]
Private Eli Ridgley served in Company C, 11th Missouri Cavalry.

He enlisted in the regiment on July 20, 1863 at Maryville, Missouri. Ridgley was mustered on December 16, 1863 and served about 20 months.
Ridgley joined the regiment in late 1863. During his enlistment, the unit was involved in several major battles and campaigns. Some of them include:
Battle of Tupelo (MS) (July 14-15, 1864).
Pursuit of General Price (AR/MO) (September 17-November 13, 1864).
Battle of Nashville (TN) (December 15-16, 1864).
Siege of Spanish Fort and Fort Blakely (AL) (March 26-April 8, 1865).
He was discharged on July 27, 1865 at New Orleans.
