Barbara was born on Deer Isle in 1851 to David Robbins and Deborah Lindsey. [1]. In 1860 and 1870, she lived with her family on Deer Isle. Her father and brothers were fishermen.[2][3]
Barbara married William Hutchinson in 1874. In 1880, they lived on Deer Isle with their four children. William was a fisherman.[4]In 1900, they lived in Stonington with 5 of their 9 children and their daughter-in-law. William was a lobsterman.[5]In October, 1900, their 22-year-old son Willard drowned when his sloop foundered in Merchant's Row.[6]In 1910, they lived in Stonington with two of their sons and their 4-year-old grandson. William was a lobsterman.[7]In 1920, William and Barbara lived in Stonington with their 14-year-old grandson. William worked as a laborer in fishing.[8]
Barbara died in Stonington in 1923 and is buried there in Evergreen Cemetery.[9]
