Biography

"TW" Thomas Wiley Roberson was born in Montgomery Co., Tennessee on 27 Dec 1827, to Allen Roberson and Sarah Mallory. He married Lucinda Sue Stephens Pitts on 9 Dec 1856 in Pontotoc, Mississippi, United States.[1] They had ten children. He was a farmer all of his life. Toward the end of his life his youngest son Richard, stayed on the farm to help his father and mother before both of them passed away. Thomas W. Roberson passed away on 27 Nov 1912, in Cleburne, Johnson, Texas USA. Most likely at home on the farm.

Death: Nov. 27, 1912, Cleburne, Johnson County, Texas, USA

Son of Allen & Sarah (Mallory) Roberson

In 1850 Census [2]in Pontotoc County, Pontotoc, Mississippi, United States, we find the 23 year old Thomas W. Roberson living in the house of his mother's brother, Uncle Thomas Mallory (age 48) and his wife, Mary Mallory (age 37). In the household are 7 children: Jesse Mallory, Male, age 18,born in Alabama; Ann Mallory, Female, age 16, born in Alabama; Frances Mallory, Female, age 14, born in Alabama; Manitta Mallory, Female, age 10, born in Mississippi; Eliza Mallory, Female, age 9, born in Mississippi; Sarah Mallory, Female, age 6, born in Mississippi; and Josephine Mallory, Female, age 3, born in Mississippi. Most likely he is here because their are so many children but so few boys to work the farm. Perhaps Thomas is working land which may have been given to his mother, Sarah Mallory by her father's will. Further research will need to be done to determine if this might be possible.

Spouse

Lucinda Stephens Pitts Roberson (1836 - 1901) Married on 9 December 1856 in Pontotoc, Mississippi, most likely at her home or home church.[3] It is obious to me that her father moved to Texas when the Roberson's moved because her father is living on an ajacent farm to Thomas W. Roberson's farm. Another son, Charles Roberson and his wife Beulah are on this page of the census.[4]

Children

Buck C. Roberson (1872 - 1937)*

Edgar M Roberson (1874 - 1887)*

Richard Boliver Roberson (1878 - 1939)*

Thomas W. Roberson is found in the 1900 Census [5] at age 73 living in ED 55 Justice Precinct 1 (southwest part), Johnson, Texas, United States, with his wife, Lucinda (Lieu) Roberson, age 64, and their son, Buck, his wife and a cook. He owns the land on which he is a farmer.

Buck Roberson, age 28, and his wife, Theodocia Roberson, age 31, along with a female white cook, Hester Cook, is living in the home owned by Thomas (Thos) Wiley Roberson. Buck says that he owns the land that he farms also. When the birthdate of each person is asked, Thos. W. Roberson responds that his is February 1927. This is not the date on his death certificate.

On the adjoining farm to W.T. Roberson is another son, Richard Boliver Roberson, age 23, and his wife, Fannie, age 21, and their son, Earl Roberson, age 1, can be found. Richard is farming rented land that hopes most likely to inheirt when his father dies.

The Stephens family own the farm next to the Roberson's. Nannie Stephens Roberson (1862 - 1898) ends up marrying a Stephen's boy.

On the bottom of the next page of this census, can be found a Jno B Roberson, age 32, and his wife, Mollie, age 27, and their little boy, Roy age 2. I think this may be John B Roberson (1867 - 1925)* another one of Thomas Wiley Roberson's sons. The only problem is that the birthplace of the Father is not correct. More investigation needs to be done to prove this idea.
