Biography

Thomas Robinson was born about 1784, Mecklenburg County, North Carolina.[1] Thomas is the son of John Robinson and Jane Downs.

Thomas acquired land on 22 May 1807, from John Robinson (his father) and James Robinson. Witnesses to the deed were Downs Robinson and Samuel Robinson.[2]

Thomas married before 1810 his cousin, Jane Downs, daughter of Samuel Downs and Mary Crockett.

Thomas acquired additional land from his father, John Robinson, on 17 August 1811. Witnesses were John Robinson (Jr) and Joseph Robinson.[3]

Thomas sold his land on 6 January 1813, to " . . . David Stit . . . on Flat Branch of Six Mile Creek . . . beginning at Downs Robinson's corner . . . conveyed to Thomas Robinson by his father John Robinson 22 May 1807 and 17 August 1811 . . ." [4]

Thomas appears in the 1820 Federal census in Morgan County, Georgia. Thomas' household appears as follows: 1 male under age 10; 1 male age 10 thru 15; 1 male age 16 thru 25; 1 male age 26 thru 44; 2 females under age 10; 1 female age 26 thru 44; and 1 slave.[5]

Thomas appears in the 1840 Federal census in Harris County, Georgia. Thomas' household appears as follows: 1 male age 5 thru 9; 1 male age 15 thru 19; 1 male age 20 thru 29; 1 male age 50 thru 59; 1 female age 10 thru 14; 1 female age 15 thru 19; 1 female age 20 thru 29; and 1 female age 50 thru 59.[6]

Thomas appears in the 1850 Federal census in Harris County, Georgia. Thomas' household appears as follows: Thomas age 67, born NC, occupation - Overseer; Jane age 61 born NC; Harriet age 26, born GA; and Eliza age 24, born GA.[7]

Thomas appears in the 1860 Federal census in Shelby County, Alabama. Thomas' household appears as follows: Thomas age 76; Jane age 73; Thomas age 38; Eliza age 48; Harriett age 33; Henry age 28; and Susan age 12.[8]

Thomas died in Shelby County, Alabama before the 1870 Federal census.
