Alexander Robinson was born circa 1755. During the American Revolutionary War, Alexander was residing in Orange county, of the Hillsborough District of North Carolina. (See notes) Alexander provided services in support of the Continental Army, for which he was reimbursed after the War. [1]
Alexander Robinson is honored for his Patriotic Service by the Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution, as DAR Ancestor A211086. DAR records indicate that Alexander died before October 12, 1791 in Sumner county, in the Southwest Territory (See notes) and that his wife's name was Mary (?nee). Applications for membership in the Society of the DAR have been made by the descendants of their son, David Robinson, who married Elizabeth Hooper. [2]
In 1766, the Province of North Carolina House of Burgess, at the direction of Province of North Carolina Governor William Tryon, divided the state into six judicial districts. The districts did not do away with the county divisions of the state, which continued.
The Territory South of the River Ohio, more commonly known as the Southwest Territory, was an organized incorporated territory of the United States that existed from May 26, 1790, until June 1, 1796, when it was admitted to the United States as the State of Tennessee.
