Biography

Hannah Robinson is born in c1852 in Upper Canada. Her parents are George Robinson and Theresa Stafford, both born in England. At some point in the 1830s her parents had emigrated from England to the United States. They had then moved to Upper Canada.

In the 1861 census records, Hannah is nine years old, living with her family in a log house in Toronto Gore Township. Today, most of Toronto Gore is in the city of Brampton.

On November 3, 1873 Hannah marries William Lansdell (1850-1915) [2]. Two of Hannah’s sibling will also marry into the Lansdell family. Her older sister, Mary, will marry William Lansdell after her own death and her older brother, David, will marry William’s sister in 1874.

Hannah and William have nine children. The first eight are born in Vaughan Township. Vaughan is on the east side of Toronto Gore. The last child, Bertie, is born in Chinguacousy Township which is the township to the west of Toronto Gore.
