In 1820 he married Mary Williams, the daughter of Samuel Williams. ^[4]

John died in or before 1871, as his wife is listed in the 1871 census as 'widowed'. ^{[5] [6]}

Research Notes

A secondary source suggests that John is the son of Charles Roche and Elizabeth Tully. However, John is not mentioned in Charles' will. Moreover, Charles and Elizabeth's children were all born in Nova Scotia; if John was born in Ireland, he is likely not a child of Charles and Elizabeth.

It is possible, however, that there was a connection between John and the family of Charles and Elizabeth. E.g., Charles and Elizabeth may have taken John into their family if John had been orphaned on the trip to Nova Scotia (or earlier).
