Biography

Pliny A Root was born on the 23rd of February 1785 in Ludlow, Massachusetts.^[1] He was the son of Timothy Root (1749-1822) and Sarah (Bartlett) Root (1740-1785).^[1]

He married Ruth (Cleveland) Root (1792-1876) on the 10th of August 1810 in Palmer, Massschusetts.^[2][3] They raised five children.

1. Nancy (Root) Smith (1812-).
2. Ruth E (Root) Haynes (1814-).
3. William Timothy Root (1816-1888).
4. Timothy Root (1818-1846).
5. Simeon Pliny Root (1826-1912).

Pliny passed away on the 24th of February 1862 in Somerset, Michigan at the age of seventy-seven.^[4] He was buried in Jackson, Michigan in South Jackson Cemetery.^[5]
