Biography

Oscar was born in Los Angeles California (Hollywood) on 4 Aug 1921. His parents were Canadians Oscar Pelton aka Oscar Ross of Burford, Ontaro and Marie Rosalie Hennessy of Collingwood, On. His father was a travelling salesman who had a wife and no children. They did not . His older sister was June.

His mother had his birth certificate corrected by affidavit in Los Angeles in 1931, when he was 10. He did have baggage concerning his heritage and background, and it was never discussed. He reverted to his previous Ross surname. For some reason, the US Military did not accept him, therefore he returned to his Canadian roots and served in the Canadian Armed Forces, in the Maritimes. He was a lifelong avid short wave radio enthusiast.

He married Ontario native Margaret Fisher, and had five children. He retired as a life insurance agent. He built a complex of homes in central Ontario c. 1970 and brought his mother up from St. Joseph, Mo. to live in one.

He was very social and had a treasured group of coffee buddies, telling stories and reflecting on the world.
