Biography

Marie Emérentienne Roy was born on 16 May 1900 and was baptized the next day Saint-François-d'Assise parish in Beauceville, Québec, Canada. She was the daughter of Charles Roy, farmer, and Marie Caron of this parish. Sponsors at Emérentienne baptism were her brother and sister Edmond and Joséphine Roy; both sponsors and the father signed the register.

At age 18 Emérentienne married Joseph Eugène Stanislas Letourneau on 30 Jul 1918 in Saint-Prosper, Dorchester, Québec. There were nine children born into this marriage.

Emérentienne died at age 91 on 4 Feb 1991 in Lewiston, Androscoggin, Maine; she was buried three days later on 7 Feb in St. Peter's Cemetery in Lewiston.
